AYURVEDA
The Science of Life
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an indigenous medical system from India that teaches us a holistic understanding of human health and how it is intrinsically tied to nature and our environment. With an increase of stressful events impacting our mental, emotional, and physical health, Ayurveda is becoming more widely known as a wisdom tradition that supports balance and harmony.
Ayurvedic interventions including diet, herbs and lifestyle practices are well-researched and shown to be effective in managing many physical and mental health problems. Many innovative and effective systems of therapy being used today mirror foundational concepts of Ayurveda such as mindfulness, Mind-Body connection, and the importance of social support during times of healing and recovery.
Ayurveda applies principles such as 5- Element and Tridoshic Theories to assess a person’s individual constitution (Prakruti) and state of imbalance (Vikruti). Through its holistic understanding of how a person’s diet and life routine impact their state of health, Ayurveda encourages changes to move towards greater balance.
